Overview
Mission
The mission of Safety Groups UK is to ensure the health and safety groups are key players in the UK health and safety system and in the delivery of UK health and safety strategy.
Objectives
The objectives of Safety Groups UK are:
- To provide a forum and a platform for Groups to debate key issues and to influence key stakeholders in the formulation of health and safety strategy and policy
- To advance and promote education in all aspects of health and safety
- To disseminate information to member health and safety groups on all health and safety matters of potential interest and best practice
- To enter into partnerships with other health and safety agencies and organisations having similar objectives, including their role in outreach and raising awareness
- To promote the membership and work of UK Health and Safety Groups, especially among small and medium enterprises.
Membership
Membership of Safety Groups UK is open to all health and safety groups irrespective of their title.

Management
The work programme and governance of Safety Groups UK is led by its management committee.

Vision
- Powerful and thriving network of health and safety groups in every part of the UK, working to disseminate vital information to the grass roots.
- Groups reaching out to and working in partnership with all those in their local communities who have a role to play in ensuring the workplaces are healthy and safe.
- An effective channel for feeding back views and experiences to health and safety authorities and other key national stakeholders.
- A positive partnership between the groups movement, and all other key players in occupational health and safety including the HSE, RoSPA, IOSH, IIRSM, the BSC, BOHS and NEBOSH.
- New path-finding projects undertaken by Groups to raise awareness of problems and demonstrate solutions and to establish good practice.
- Recognition of and support for the key role which groups play by key intermediaries such as employers associations, trade unions, training bodies and all other organisations which can help to promote and advance their work.
Constitution
The present constitution of 'Safety Groups UK' was adopted after an EGM of the organisation on the 13th October 2005. Amendments were adopted at the Safety Groups UK AGM on 8th June 2007.
