‘CD233 - Proposed amendment to the Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations 1995 (RIDDOR)’

The HSE consultative document sets out proposals for an amendment to regulation 3(2) of the RIDDOR.

This change was proposed by Lord Young in his report "Common Sense, Common Safety". If adopted, the period of incapacitation after which an injury to a person at work must be reported to the enforcing authority, will change from over three to over seven days. Employers would still be required to keep internal records of over-three-day accidents.

Roger Bibbings has written two articles on the subject entitled, ‘Re-jigging RIDDOR’ and ‘Paperwork or Prevention’, which were published in the RoSPA ‘OS&H’ Journal.

The CD seeks views on the proposal itself and on the impacts that it would have if it became law.
If you are commenting on the document please could you copy in Roger Bibbings, rbibbings@rospa.com. The closing date for receipt of comments by HSE is 9th May 2011.
