Moving Goods Safely

Safety Groups UK helped to deliver a series of seminars in support of the HSE's Moving Goods Safely campaign.

Moving Goods Safely (MGS) started out as a national project involving both the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and Local Authorities (LA) working in partnership. The project aimed to reduce injuries and ill health arising from the movement of goods from supplier, through haulier to the recipient and end user including any home deliveries, by focusing upon the delivery and collection of goods and the hazards this generates. It covered the main areas that cause the majority of injuries and ill-health to workers, including:

  • Workplace transport;
  • Slips & trips, and;
  • Musculoskeletal disorders (MSD).

Visit www.hse.gov.uk/movinggoods for resources and further information.

Clean Air? Take Care!

Clean Air? Take Care! has been developed jointly by the HSE, BSIF and leading industry stakeholders.

The campaign is focused on overcoming the often ineffective use of Respiratory Protection Equipment (RPE) in the workplace. This problem is leading to serious long-term health issues. By supplying simple advice to users and specifiers of RPE, the campaign aims to help people correctly select RPE and implement a full respiratory protection programme.

SGUK supported the Clean Air? Take Care! Campaign with the following actions:

  • The campaign folder including; a simple RPE selection guide, an informative RPE user poster and the campaign DVD, were circulated to members of Safety Groups.

  • BSIF offered free half day seminars on 'Clean Air? Take Care! which were taken up by Safety Groups

  • SGUK is represented at the HSE’s RPE Project Steering Group meetings
